Pinehurst School Teacher

Teacher at the original Pinehurst School, a two-room wooden schoolhouse on Boston Road built in 1922 for the fast-growing Pinehurst district. It was not ready in September 1922, and its two teachers taught their classes elsewhere until it opened in January 1923 with 85 pupils in grades 1 to 4. It was chronically crowded: the first and second grades went on half-day sessions in 1926, a portable classroom was added in 1927, and from 1925 the lower-grade room was often taught by exchange teachers from the Lowell Normal School. Esther A. Moglia was its one constant teacher from 1924. On December 1, 1931 its pupils moved into the new brick school next door, later named the Ditson School, and the old building stood unused by 1933.
